RVC CELEBRATING ITS 242ND CORPS DAY
पुणे :- Remount Corps is a true epitome of chosen motto “Service to Animals is our Duty” evidenced by dedication of personnel towards the welfare of its mute silent warriors. The Corps has taken gigantic strides in production and training of quality equines and canines for meeting the operational logistic requirements of Indian Army. The proactive approach by Remount Veterinary Corps (RVC) has kept the dreaded disease like Glanders and Rabies at bay despite its prevalence in nearby areas.
Army Dogs have been a force multiplier in fight against terrorism, in an exemplary manner & saving precious lives and properties. The silent warriors have always stood the test of “Operational Challenges” and came out victorious. The increased requirement of Army dogs in Counter Insurgency /Counter Terrorism operation and disaster management validate their excellent result oriented performance. Keeping in mind of the concept of Atmanirbhar Bharat by GoI, Corps has introduced new Indian breed like Mudhol Hound.
The Corps has also taken meaningful strides in our Nation’s effort towards maintaining peace by being part of United Nation Peace Keeping Mission. The humanitarian assistance rendered by the Corps in UN missions has been commendable. Under defence co-operation plan RVC has supplied trained dogs, horses & mules to friendly foreign countries like Bangladesh. Myanmar Combodia & Nepal which speaks volumes about Indian Army high standards and professional competence, and is sure to open new vistas for strengthening foreign relations. The corps will also be supplying trained army dogs to Royal Combodian Armed Forces (RCAF).
RVC has also played important role in “Civic military co-ordination (CIMIC) of UN Missions and Op Sadbhavana & has played vital role in capacity building of locals and trained them as community Animal Health Workers.
In recognition of the services rendered by men & animals of RVC Indian Army has been conferred with 72 commendation cards during Army
Day and Independence Day since its inception. Similarly the riders and horses of RVC have made commendable achievements at national level also by bagging 95 Gold, 88 Silver & 77 Bronze medals.
